10. Goal Line technology
Gamers will always tell you that it’s the small changes that set follow-ups apart from their
predecessors. With the introduction of goal-line technology, FIFA has brought in a feature that might seem small to some, but probably took a lot of work. In reality, this feature has always existed, but now we’ll get to see it in all its glory so you can finally put to bed the old ‘I’ve been glitched, that crossed the line’ argument.
9. All Premier League grounds
It has been great playing at a number of Premier League grounds in the past, but a large number of EPL fans have been left playing their home games in generic stadiums, until now. FIFA 15 will be the first game to feature all the home grounds for Premier League teams. Turf Moor, here we come.
8. More realistic goalkeepers
Goalkeepers in FIFA have always been contentious to say the least. Consistently saving stunners set for the top corner and letting one on ones through their legs just about every time. FIFA 15 has changed all this with intuitive ‘next gen’ goalkeepers. This includes new save reactions and more realistic parries and deflections.
7. 200 player head scans for added realism
Every version of FIFA looks more realistic than the last, so much so that you wonder how the brand will be better in the next version. Well, FIFA 15 has preformed full head scans on 200 of the world’s best players to ensure life-like resemblance is as high as it possibly can be. How will they do it next year?
6. Tactical edits
Of course, you can continue to play the game ‘normally’, but FIFA 15 has brought in a number of edits that you can make to your team before the game to set computer AI, off the ball runs, player positions and a number of other features, not quite Football Manager, but getting there.
5. Loan players on Ultimate Team
FIFA Ultimate Team is one of the best additions to the franchise in recent memory. Therefore, the addition of being able to loan players (and play them) before you buy them will be one that many people welcome. Buying a ‘duff’ Ultimate Team player will shortly be a thing of the past.
4. 600 different emotional reactions
How players react to a foul, scoring and making an excellent save is something that you do not fully appreciate until you play an older version of FIFA and it disappears. The addition of 600 new emotional reactions will increase realism without affecting game-play, a win-win.
3. More realistic pitch features
Following on from the last point, developers have also stated that actions that happen on the pitch will be much more realistic. From the changing of LED advertisements, to the crossbar shaking when it has been smashed to the corner flags blowing in the wind depending on its severity, all changes that will add to the realism.
2. More realistic crowds
The introduction of the X Box One and Playstation 4 made ‘one dimensional’ crowds outdated. FIFA 14 on both of those platforms introduced ultra realistic crowds without affecting game-play. FIFA 15 has promised higher definition crowds, but once again, that doubt always remains, will game-play be affected?
1. Realistic pitch degradation
Do you remember Sol Campbell’s never-ending slide tackle for England against Croatia? If that happened in FIFA, the pitch would have returned to normal next time the camera focused on it, but not anymore. This is one of the most interesting developments and in theory it sounds fantastic, but does it affect game-play speed? Only time will tell.
